Intrepid Studios was back with another livestream yesterday, giving us some new info on what they are working on, answering questions from the community, talking about Stevens birthday, baconfirmedTM (patent pending) and more. Also, what's a livestream from Intrepid without some mic static and video/audio problems? Feels like home <3 So let's dive into the details of the stream!
New combat system in the works - will be featured during their next stream
Steven and Jeffrey opened up talking about the team being "knee-deep" in design and implementations of the combat systems, in preparations for Alpha 1. They are trying to make it feel good, be reactive, and making it seem like a an extension of you. Takes a lot of work obviously, but making good progress. Steven did then announce that during their next livestream, we will get live footage! As right now, it is extremely early, and not ready for public viewing just yet, which is fine.
This one is a cool treat: The new update in the pre-order store for this month is dwarf themed! As usual, the packs are the same in terms of the other content (test access, game-time, embers etc), while the cosmetics rotate each month. If you have already bought a pre-order pack, don't worry: You can still purchase the new cosmetics. It will be available as a addon, so you won't have to buy the whole pre-order package again.

Today Intrepid Studios released a press release, where they now claim to be "one of the largest MMOs in production. Quite a feat! There has been lots of new hires lately (and more to come), some of which are previous Daybreak developers. The list includes senior programmers, engineers, artists and more. Steven Sharif noted that “It’s pretty exciting to watch your dreams become a reality, and at the end of the day, creating an MMORPG that players can be proud of." It is definitely a quality sign to see the team growing larger as we approach Alpha 1.
Michael Roca – Senior Gameplay Programmer (Formerly of Disney, Daybreak, SOE, and EA)
Grat Crabtree – Senior Software Engineer (Formerly of Daybreak and SOE)
Devin Lafontaine – Senior Artist (Formerly Daybreak, SOE, Sigil Games)
Tad Ehrlich – Senior Artist (Formerly, Daybreak, SOE, Midway Games)
Garrett Fern – Senior Game Designer (Formerly Daybreak and SOE)
Zin Chiang – Senior Producer (Formerly Travian Games and Publishing)
Midori Bond – Executive Assistant (Formerly Senior GM and Customer Service at SOE)...
The Intrepid team is working hard to bring us Alpha 1 later this year, which will focus on some large PvP elements such as castle sieges. So to our big surprise, Steven just finished a playtest in Alpha 0 during the first part of the stream (so the playtest was why the stream was delayed 1 hour). While Steven was busy having fun with the play-testers, Bacon, Jeffrey and Peter guided us through the traditional questions and answers section.
What I personally found to be the most interesting questions and answers, I have marked in purple and moved up. You can read these further down on the page.
But first, the highlight of the stream: Guild castle siege sneak-peak with Steven!
Right into the action!
We got the see one of the castles in the Alpha 0 build. Steven did, repeatedly, emphasize that this is very, very, very early build. From animations, effects, skills, UI, everything. First passes, for testing only. While Steven is whacking opponents in the castle, he says how important it is for an MMO to...
New month, new cosmetics in the Ashes of Creation pre-order packs.

There will be another official live stream from the guys at Intrepid Studios, tonight at 3 PM PST. If you have a burning question that needs answering, make sure to post in in the Q&A thread over at the official forum. They usually pick around 10 questions to answer live on-stream. Normal limitations apply, such as only one question per person.
Also feel free to share what you are hoping to get answers about tonight, or what your question was
Hello dear readers! You may have noticed two new pages that has popped up in the header navigation, called premium and donate.
The premium membership is similar to the popular Patreon service, where you can run a paid membership for your fans. The fans get a few nice perks, while also helping the site financially. So with this post I'm going to explain a bit more about this program and what options there are to support our community, if you wish to do so.
On this page you will get a breakdown of what is included in the different premium deals. Two of the options are subscription types: 2 months at $4.00 ($2.00 per month) and 1 year at $18.00 ($1.50 per month). This is similar to many Patreon services, which runs at $1-5 per month. Then you have the last option, which is a permanent lifetime plan. You pay a one-time fee of $40 and then you are set for life It also grants you a few more perks.
BCG welcomes us to a community podcast with Greypelt, Okies, Truth Eternal and of course Steven Sharif as special guest. This is a great podcast, and I strongly recommend watching it. A link to the full podcast is at the bottom of this article. My favorite questions that got answered today, are marked in purple.
BCG: Why do you prefer MMORPGs to other game genres?
Steven: MMOs is a unique genre, providing the same ability to connect with people all across the world. With my previous guild, which I started in 2002, we had thousands of members. It was such a unique ability to turn on vent/TS and chat together with people across the world and bonding with them. Just the experience to fight with them, engaging in server wars, grafting and gathering the best gear.. You know, it is such a unique experience and that's why it is so near to my heart.
BCG: Why do you think that Ashes of Creation was so well received? The whole concept of the node system and the changing world is something a lot of people are interested in...
It has now been a while since our latest status report. So time to get a briefing out to you guys!
What has happened in the last 2 months on the website and with new features
We now have 80 registered members! And soon hitting 600 posts.
We have gotten a moderator, @Shunex, which was previously a moderator for the official forum/discord. He has helped me a lot with the site, I am very happy and grateful to have him on the team! PS: We are still looking for a News Writer as staff member, check this thread for more info.
New raffle system. Automated, with tons of customization options. It is working great, I'm very pleased.
So it seems like Steven totally forgot about the forum thread ahead of the latest live stream (he took the questions from discord this time), but luckily he decided to answer some of them on the forum afterwards! So let's just jump right to the questions and answers.
As for my question, you misunderstood I think. I was just interested in a server with the NAME of Stuffertons as a gathering place for the sillier-minded players among us.
Don't get me wrong, I'm totally down for the other idea too!
Answer: Ah I see, Servers will be named after the champions of the great battles that led up to the fall of Verra.
The character movement in the current Alpha 0 builds, how much of that will be changed towards upcoming Alpha/Beta builds? right now it seems like the...
